Hvar is the most celebrated island on the Dalmatian coast — a long, thin island of lavender fields, medieval towns, and extraordinary beaches that has become one of the Mediterranean's premier destinations for discerning travellers and, in July and August, a significant party destination. Brač, immediately to the north, is larger, quieter, and home to Zlatni Rat — a sand and pebble beach that changes shape with the current and is considered by many to be the finest on the Adriatic.
Pourquoi visiter Hvar & Brač
Hvar Town's main square is the largest piazza in Dalmatia — a beautiful space of Venetian architecture overlooking a harbour full of superyachts, with a 16th-century fortress above and lavender fields behind. The southern coast of Hvar, reached by boat or by the road over the ridge, has a series of small coves and villages — Zavala, Sveta Nedjelja, Jagodna — that are almost entirely undeveloped and extraordinarily beautiful. Zlatni Rat on Brač is best visited by boat from the nearby town of Bol.

Quand visiter
May and June are exceptional on Hvar — the lavender is in bloom, the sea is warm enough to swim, and the nightlife crowd has not yet arrived. September is equally good. July and August are intensely busy in Hvar Town; the rest of the island remains relatively calm. Brač is good throughout the summer and into October.
Nova Insider
Rent a small boat from Hvar Town and spend a day exploring the Pakleni Islands — an archipelago of small islands immediately offshore with a series of beautiful bays, a naturist beach, and a restaurant on the island of Palmižana that serves the best grilled fish on the coast. The boat rental costs less than a beach club entrance fee and gives you complete freedom for the day.
