Lido Lugano
C’est La Vie. That’s French for ‘such is life’. Here, it’s an intimate culinary experience by Chef David Lee, whose modern French sensibilities have made him a mainstay in the Toronto food scene. Chef Lee’s tasting menu is a love letter to French cuisine, featuring dishes like scallop crudo, foie gras parfait, and roasted duck breast, all plated with contemporary artistry. Its elegant, minimalist interior, accented by French antique decor, is reminiscent of a Parisian bistro. Ooh la la.
About this place
A Modern Take on French Classics
Chef David Lee’s modern French sensibilities shine through in C’est La Vie’s two tasting menus. Both are a love letter to French cuisine, albeit designed with a contemporary eye. Take for example the 北海道帆立刺身 (Hokkaido scallop crudo) — a delicate dish made with yuzu, green apple, and shiso. Or the exquisitely plated Foie Gras Parfait, made with an aged balsamic, spruce syrup, and toasted brioche. The roasted duck breast, a classic French main, is reimagined with a masterfully-prepared gastrique, seasonal mushrooms, and nori.
Old World Wines and Craft Cocktails
C’est La Vie features an extensive wine list from both Old and New World wineries. The restaurant’s in-house sommelier can guide guests through the restaurant’s carefully-curated wine collection, offering per-glass and per-bottle options. There’s also a small but excellent cocktail menu that includes French-inspired concoctions, along with a selection of after-dinner beverages.
An Intimate Taste of Paris in King West
C’est La Vie’s elegant interior is reminiscent of a Parisian bistro, with French antique decor and minimalist furnishings. It’s an intimate and charming space that’s perfect for special occasions, from romantic dinners to birthday celebrations. Private dining options are also available upon request, offering guests a more exclusive and secluded experience.
