Lagos is the finest town on the Algarve coast — a working port with a genuine old quarter, extraordinary limestone cliffs immediately to the south, and a beach culture that has been drawing surfers and independent travellers for decades without losing its character. The western Algarve between Lagos and Cape St. Vincent is the wildest and most beautiful stretch of the entire coast.
Lagos & West Algarveを訪れる理由
The cliffs at Ponta da Piedade, a ten-minute walk from Lagos town, are among the most spectacular geological formations in Portugal — a labyrinth of golden limestone arches, sea stacks, and caves best explored by kayak from below. The town itself has a beautiful historic centre, an excellent market, and the kind of restaurants that are full of Portuguese families rather than tourist menus.

訪問のベストシーズン
May, June, and September are ideal — warm enough for the beach, quiet enough to move freely. July and August are busy but vibrant. The west Algarve in winter is mild and dramatically beautiful, with the surf at its most powerful and the cliffs completely uncrowded.
Nova Insider
Rent a kayak from the beach at Praia Dona Ana and paddle south to the caves and arches of Ponta da Piedade — the entry to the sea caves is too low for the tourist boats and only accessible by kayak at the right tide. The experience of floating inside a cathedral of golden limestone, lit from below by turquoise water, is one of the finest things available on the entire Portuguese coast.
