Nerja & East Coast — Boutique Hotels & Travel Guide

The eastern Costa del Sol between Málaga and Nerja is the most dramatic stretch of the coast — where the mountains of the Sierra Nevada reach almost to the sea and the coastal road winds through tunnels and above cliffs with views that the flat western costa cannot offer. Nerja, at the eastern end, is the finest town on the Costa del Sol — a cliff-top resort of genuine character with a famous cave system and the best balcony view in Andalusia.
Nerja & East Coastを訪れる理由
The Balcón de Europa in Nerja — a clifftop promenade above the sea built on the site of a Moorish fortress — is one of the great viewpoints in Spain, and it is free and open at all hours. The Nerja Caves, discovered in 1959 and containing Palaeolithic cave paintings, are one of the most impressive cave systems open to the public in Europe. The beaches below Nerja, accessed by steep paths from the town, are among the finest on the coast.

訪問のベストシーズン
Nerja is excellent year-round — it has a genuine local population and functions as a town rather than a resort. May and June are ideal for the beach. September and October are warm, uncrowded, and beautiful. The east coast in winter is mild and quiet, with the mountains behind occasionally carrying snow visible from the coast.
Nova Insider
The village of Frigiliana, 6km above Nerja in the foothills of the Sierra Almijara, is the most beautiful of the white villages close to the coast — a Moorish-influenced labyrinth of cobbled streets and flower-filled balconies that has been almost entirely pedestrianised. Walk up from Nerja through the terraced orchards in the morning, have lunch at a terrace restaurant above the valley, and walk back down in the afternoon light.
