The Best Hidden Courtyard Hotels in Athens

The streets of Athens move to a distinct rhythm, a steady energy that carries through its open squares. Yet past an unassuming gate or down a short flight of worn marble steps, this cadence quiets. In the city’s internal courtyards, the world is framed by high walls and the dappled light through an olive tree. Just steps from the pedestrian thoroughfares of Plaka, the day’s measure is not the public clamor but the slow transit of a shadow across a plaster wall. The feeling is one of quiet observation, a city seen from the inside out.
