The Best Historic Splendor Hotels in Bern

Below the steep sides of the Old City, the Aare river moves with a steady, turquoise current. This same measured pace defines the sensibility of Bern's historic hotels. Here, attention is paid to the substance of a building, in rooms with generous proportions and the scent of polished walnut. These are structures with a civic memory, their corridors having absorbed generations of quiet conversation. They offer an assured and established point of view on the Swiss capital, grounding a visit in a material history that feels both significant and refreshingly understated.
