The Best Design Forward Hotels in Edinburgh

The architectural rigour of Edinburgh, from its medieval closes to the Georgian grid of New Town, sets a particular stage. In response, a certain kind of accommodation has emerged, defined not by spectacle but by a studied quietness. These are spaces shaped by an attention to sightlines and the integrity of a limited material palette. A considered approach is evident, where the function of a room is clarified by its form and small details, like the deliberate patina on an unlacquered brass fitting, are given room to register. This is Edinburgh’s contemporary design sensibility.
