The Best Historic Splendor Hotels in Nice

Beyond the sweep of the Promenade des Anglais, the architectural character of Nice shifts. Grand hotels from the turn of the century stand with quiet composure, their high-ceilinged rooms once occupied by wintering aristocrats. This sensibility is rooted in history, not novelty. It is found in the substantial feel of a heavy door, the intricate patterns of an original parquet floor underfoot, and the way afternoon sun filters through tall, shuttered windows. These structures are not apart from the city; they are repositories of its elegant past, maintained with deliberate care.
