The Best Rooftop Pool Hotels in Rome

The rooftops of Rome form a distinct geography of their own, a plane of worn terracotta and private terraces. To be on one is to see the city from a different angle, with the crowds near the Pantheon reduced to a low murmur. A pool at this altitude is not for sport but for contemplation. It is a place to note the changing sky, to sit on a sun-warmed travertine edge with a cold glass, to feel the late-afternoon breeze rise up from the narrow streets below. This high viewpoint offers a quiet counterpoint to the city’s energy.
